So, recently my kids, Daniel and Alin, don't want to go to sleep at night. I don't know how to convince them that they need to be in bed at a certain time, as we have never had structured bedtimes or naptimes. It has always been that as soon as they are tired, they go to bed, unless we (the parents) are tired first and then they go to bed as soon as we do. This has started to be a pain in the neck, especially during the summer, because they want to be up since it is still light, and Marcelo has to be up by 5:30 am to be to work by six, and when they don't want to sleep until at least eleven, it makes for a rough time! They just quit talking about 2 minutes ago, which means that at least one is asleep... Alin hates to stay in her bed, but since we took the crib out of their room she has to sleep on a normal bed- and there is no way for me to keep her in! It is so frustrating, and i don't know what to do about it. If you have any ideas, please let me know!

It's so nice to get a glimpse into your life and see how things are going.
In regards to your post, I would probably try to get them in two different bedrooms (to stop the talking) and the only suggestion I have for getting her to stay in her bed, other than tying her down, would be to consistently put her back in when she gets out.
Have you ever seen the nanny shows (like Nanny 911)? Lots of those kids have troubles sleeping - they really have great suggestions on that show for bedtime and childrearing in general.
Good luck!
That's a tough one. We were pretty lax with Zoie early on with bedtime, and over time we've been able to establish a bed time that she's used to (even though we don't always get her down right on time). That has made it easier with Jonas. Anyway, I'm not sure on the getting out of bed thing. When Zoie did/does that, we always put her back in (sometime with threats). She usually doesn't do it though, but I do find if she takes a nap during the day she's much more likely to not be tired enough to stay in bed at night.
